can continue with our investigation as get the latest from our reporter in plymouth and john henderson who john joins me now. john what more are we hearing from the please. not a great deal at the moment. fairly light police presence here this is the short. concerned were last night at about quarter to seven. man enters the betting shop. wearing apparently a gas mask. when phone parent lee also had them what looks like a pistol as you heard there from the police officer. was immediately set upon by a couple of the customers. managed to wrestle him to the ground. and i've just spoken to a chap who came into the shop. immediately after that and was he was he saw this and he saw two people holding the chap down. didn't see any gas mask apparently. but he was then asked to leave the shop immediately by the people who were inside he said those two people holding the chap down. so what happened was the police were called they arrived. they quickly realized that it was a slight problem and they needed to resuscitate the gentleman. they call paramedics and after three of them had come and been

't strike john mccain when he admitted his own party had a problem. there seems to be some truth talking, some movement towards compromise. are you optimistic about this? >> well, first of all, i'm glad senator mccain said what he did because we don't want the republicans to get any credit for having a moral -- they're doing this because they can read election returns, and they've got to fwet this issue at least beyond them. they have to understand there's a price to pay. do they pay the price if they're obstructionist on 100% background check? do they pay the price if they're obstructionist on high capacity magazines in they have to make that decision. on the fiscal cliff themselves, do they pay the price if they don't do something that is commonsense and a workable approach to debt? energy. all these things. we like wee winding tape to 2007 and -- george w. bush is really -- that tape speaks for itself. gornl bush did in 2007 introduce immigration reform that went basically nowhere. he made personal calls to members of his own party to get it passed. only 12 of the 49 republican senato

government leaders the nation needs stricter gun control laws. john henrehan spoke with both sides. >> reporter: they marched on constitution avenue from the grounds of the u.s. capitol to the grounds of the monument, carrying signs, de crying the power of the national rifle association. some carried signs with the names of individual victims of gun violence. other signs asked the country to remember the massacre in newtown, connecticut. a small contingent from that community joined on stage. the crowd appeared to be about 3,000 strong. organizers warned the fight for more gun control legislation would be a tough one, but -- >> look at all the changes people said couldn't happen. civil rights, women's rights, don't ask don't tell. sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. change will happen when we work for it as a country. >> let us come together from across in nation, reinstate the assault weapons ban. conference, john. >> the bill protects hunters and sportsmen by protecting 2200 specifically named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes. they are by make and model exempted from the legislation. when we did this bill in '93, there were 375. today, there are 2,200. >> reporter: so do the exemptions make any difference with the national rifle association? >> senator feinstein has been trying to ban guns for decades. it's disappointing but not surprising she is focused on occur tailing the constitution instead of fixing our broken mental health system. gun bans do not work and we're confident that congress will reject her wrong headed approach. action resuming next week in the senate on guns, john. >> is senator feinstein put on a big show. there was big drama. does this have any chance of getting passed? >> reporter: very difficult chance. it will be a tough road ahead. it's not because of republicans in this case. it's because of democrats. remember, in the senate there are a lot of democrats from red states. some of them up for re-election next year, john. not sure whether they're
